Things you think that are normal but are banned in Hong Kong :O

Here are some travel tips for traveling to Hong Kong that if you do you may get a fine! You may think they are normal, casual to do in your country but it’s actually not allow in Hong Kong.

1) Eat or Drink on most of the public transports.

You are not allowed to eat or drink in most of the public transports including metro, train, or bus. China doesn’t have this rule but we do. If you do drink or eat on a public transport, you may have a chance get a fine from the staffs! Worse, everyone gonna stare at you with your yummy food like a monster!

2) Littering or Spitting

Hong Kong has strict laws about maintaining environmental hygiene, including fixed penalty fines of $1500 for littering or spitting if you are spot by a staff! This include cigarette butts.

3) Smoking restrictions

Smoking is prohibited in all indoor public places in Hong Kong, including restaurants, bars, malls and karaoke venues. The smoking ban is also implemented on public transport carriers, within public transport facilities, and in both the indoor and outdoor areas of some premises, including public beaches and swimming pools, escalators, and inside the Hong Kong Wetland Park. Any person smoking or carrying a lighted cigarette, cigar, or pipe in a designated no-smoking area will be liable to a fixed penalty of $1500 if you are spot by a staff.

4) Don’t feed the monkeys!

It is illegal to feed monkeys! The feeding of monkeys (and other wild animals) is banned under the Wild Animals Protection Ordinance including Lion Rock Country Park, Kam Shan Country Park, Shing Mun Country Park, Tai Mo Shan Country Park, Tai Po Kau Special Area. Any person who contravenes the ban is liable to a maximum fine of $10,000 if you are spot by a staff from Agriculture, fisheries and conservation Department. They are the department who responsible or handle most of the nature stuffs. Don’t worry about those cute little bastards, they are fed by the professionals!

5) Swearing in Public

You could actually be arrested for swearing in public. There are various offences which can be committed involving the use of threatening abusive words or behaviour. But meh, it is unlikely you will get arrest unless you are swearing to an officer and greeting their whole family and all their body parts. Plus, if you swear in French, German or else, I doubt anyone would understand!
